The Barefoot & Bluegrass Story

Barefoot & Bluegrass is the photographic adventure of longtime friends and fellow animal lovers Lindsey Torres and Meg Miller.

Since childhood, Lindsey has bonded with tadpoles, cats, horses, rabbits and chickens. In 2014, she welcomed a 17.1-hand Kentucky-bred, off-the-track thoroughbred named Round Rock, aka Rocky. Rocky’s sire was Unbridled’s Song, and his great-grandfather was 1990 Kentucky Derby winner Unbridled.  He is now a reconditioned riding horse and jumper, and the inspiration for Barefoot & Bluegrass. Lindsey is also mom to two daughters who love bringing apples to Rocky at the stable.

Lindsey searched in vain for equine art and photography to decorate her home. Enter her friend of almost 20 years, photographer Meg Miller. A retired school teacher turned mom to three, Meg has spent the last several years studying photography and creating artwork for Fort Wayne families. You can find more about Meg and her work with Midwest families here. Lindsey's love for and communication with animals, combined with Meg's unique, soul-capturing photos of farm life, create the perfect team.

Beyond a desire to translate beauty from farms and stables into home decor, the two women are inspired by sustainable farming practices and the ethical treatment of animals.
